HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE— that’s what one of my close friend would usually say, in fact you could say this is her motto in life. And I think this animated film greatly depicts that saying. Despite my age I’ve always loved cartoons. Animation is something that will always have a special place in my heart whether it’s an animated series or made into a movie somehow it automatically makes me feel ten times younger. And a hundred times happier. I was given the opportunity to do a review about this particular film, so allow me to take you into the colorful, hairy and fun world of the trolls. Basically the plot is about these two kingdoms; one are the small lovable creatures that are happy, bouncy, hairy, singing, dancing, hugging and cute trolls the other kingdom is of the Bergens bigger, hideous creatures that are convinced that the way they could achieve complete and utter happiness is if they are able to eat a troll. Now because of the Bergen’s traditions of devouring said Trolls, his Majesty King Peppy decided to escape in search of a new home away from the evil Bergen, and they managed to do so…

Our story starts 20 years after…Princess Poppy is this carefree young, vibrant troll who loves nothing more than to sing and dance and scrapbook with her friends thinking that everything in life is all about cupcakes and rainbows. She is in fact the happiest troll ever born, then there's Branch the complete opposite of her. He’s miserable, grey, negative and paranoid and is pretty much always in a bad mood. He doesn’t sing nor does he like hugs. He’s always thinking that a Bergen would find them and capture all of them one of these days so he spent pretty much the last twenty years preparing for that day.

Unfortunately during the 20th Anniversary party of their escape----- because of them being too loud an exiled Bergen heard them and decided to invade and crash their troll party and was able to capture a handful of Poppy’s friends. Positive that she will able to save her friends Poppy decided to rescue them along with the help of Branch the Bergen expert—— so they set of to their journey to save their friends and along the way they are able to experience and witness a love story that’s about to unfold, a betrayal of a friend and overall the realization of where true happiness comes from. I won’t spoil the whole story for you guys, because I would actually want you to watch it! It is in fact a feel good movie that’s great for kids and those who are young at heart, it’s a musical so you won’t get bored, in fact you can pretty much sing along to the songs because they are popular songs from all genres, it’s a movie that you would want to watch if you’re having a bad day and you want to have a laugh or to.

Overall I loved the main message of the story, the fact that happiness is found within us, how you’re not suppose to depend on other people or things to be happy. How the simplest things in life can bring the most joy. If I had to rate this movie it’s a 7 out of 10.

PS: I’m pretty sure colorful ombre hair was inspired by the trolls because the hairs on those little guys are just insanely colorful and beautiful that if given the chance to actually dye my hair in that color without drying my hair to death I would do it in a heartbeat.

PPS: Justin Timberlake’s voice is just amazeballs. When he sang “True Colors” it pretty much tied the whole movie together.

PPPS: I’m fairly certain that the ugly troll toys will somehow come back to the market only this time they actually have names and have clothes and are of different color — and I’m not just talking about their hair.
